Submersible borehole pumps are a
type of submersible pump.
They are centrifugal pumps driven by
a submersible motor.
As they usually draw in the fluid directly
without a suction line,
they must constantly be submerged in the fluid handled.
The water from the well or reservoir
flows into the pump through the foot
valve and strikes the impeller,
which has multiple fixed blades.
This impeller is connected to an
electrical motor via a shaft and
rotates in conjunction with the shaft.
Submersibles are underwater robots
that are deployed from the ship to the sea,
where they record and collect information
from the ocean's water column and seafloor
for scientific analysis.
A wellbore is a type of borehole
, which is a narrow shaft that is
drilled into the ground—either
horizontally or vertically—to extract water,
petroleum, or gases. Other reasons for drilling
boreholes include mineral exploration,
environmental site assessment,
and temperature measurement.
A submersible pump is installed
underwater whereas a centrifugal
pump is installed on the ground.
Therefore, submersible pumps are used
for groundwater extraction through deep
wells and centrifugal pumps are ideal for
water supply and drainage applications
in urban areas or for
industrial purposes.
